Been thinking of getting these.

I want to increase rear ride height. At the moment I have the pre-load cranked right up but I know its not an ideal solution.

30mm incease sounds like a lot to me.

Do you think this would have an adverse effect on the steering or feel of the front end [16" wheel fitted]?

I jacked up the rear on the NC by what was supposed to be 35mm although never measured it as but here's a before and after pic

After - u can see the difference if you judge the rear tyre against the remote reservoir

Can't say I felt the handling was affected in a straightline (top speed less than a Blade at about 120) but I do recall it helped sharpen up the already quick steering a little which was fine by me. My main aim with it was to make the bike a looked better side on and from the rear as old bikes I think do often tend to look too low slung but not sure if thats a side effect of an old spring or just the way they were think

30mm does sound alot i put a 3mm spacer on my shock to raise it 11mm evidently. maybe you could try that first, a couple of washers will do it for a lot less than £45

u cant use washers on the blade unfortunately Sad

you could fit the ride height adjusters and then back of the preload as that must be awful on full Thumb Down

or get a shock with the height adjuster built in smile (pricy but your shock must be proper fooked by now)

Hi Swiss,

Two points.

1 - 45 quid is a stupid amount of money for two plates when all theyve done is extend the triangle back ie the rear mounting bolt is further back. the pretty big hole in the centre does FU (apart from saving weight)

Surely (don't call me shirley) you could get made up far cheeper.

If you want i will scan standard plate and email to you so you have standard measurements.

2 - Why not just drop forks through yokes, I had my old blade 5mm lower than standard and it tipped in v.quick. and was ok at high speed.

I can understand short arses like me wanting to reduce ride height, but not the other way round.

Opps, my bad mate I forgot you mentioned that ailment Doh Get your coat

In that case, sounds like just the ticket if you can find one that comparatively doesn't look like a rip off cos I looked at them once myself and was staggered at the cost of the most of them being well above that of a Brembo front master.

Hi Kermit,

Me thinks youve got wrong thread, cause this one was from SWISS asking about jack up kits.

Point I was trying to make, badly was : some twat makes a plate and tries to sell for a ridiculous ammount of money.

would SWISS be better off buying it or are there other options?

Have to admit I've had the 929 version of those jack up plates on my ebay watch list for 2 months or so now mainly as they look cool but chances are at near on 50 quid delivery so far I've not been tempted to buy Laugh

Another option might be to have a welder take the existing brackets and redo them although I guess it depends on if the current ones are alloy or steel as while steel I think would be ok to fill in th existing hole with a blank and weld then redrill a few mm's one way or the other, I'm not sure I'd risk the same on alloy.

This was my old and new suspension (thing) for the NC30. Cost me £25 exchange. The seller allowed me to send old one back after receiving new one hence I was able to take this pic.

Top (black) one is the original, the bottom one is modified to give approx 35mm more height at the rear despite the difference in the holes looking to be only about 3-5mm

But, as you can see from the pic SWISS sent from ebay, all theyve done is extended the position of the rear bolt hole. Obviously this has meant a new triangle being made, but thats no big deal.

By moving the hole backwards, the shock has been pushed higher, giving the increase in ride hieght,

But, now the rear ride height is increased, surely this has had an effect on the front, ie loading the front more.

My statement was you can achieve the effect of loading the front by dropping the fronks through the yokes. Now I know that may reduce ground clearance and if i was in bsb that may be a big deal, but i'm not and i would investigate whether i coulod achieve what i wanted (ie) to quicken steering by dropping forks (free mod) before spending £50 quid on some triangles.

(thats all i was saying) feel free to disagree.

Hopefully this will show what I was getting at:

Certainly statement about increasing A is correct as longer space between these two holes forces shock to mount "higher".

If you had sheets of 6mm perspex, I'm sure you could make up a selection with varrying dimensions for A until you achieved exactly the ride height yu wanted. As you wouldn't be riding bike at this stage it wouldn't need to be strong as its only for testing static and then when you'd determined the measurement A needed to be you could get real ones made up.

Not 100% about decreasing B, still trying to get head round it.

Concern regarding reducing ride height would be to check shock mount can't bottom out against link bar.

I'm sure in one is drews threads he shortened/lengthened this bar to get ride height correct, might have been his race bike?

Looks like its an increase in "b", not "a".

Also,

I wonder where the 30mm is measured? I assume its at seat level as surely the further back along the bike you go the rise would increase.

Thanks for all the imput; very interesting.

I don't want to speed up the steering really; it seems fine as it is.

The rear end feels a little low to me; I am more used to modern bikes such as my track only R6 & when I sit on the blade it just feels, er...low.

I think the shock itself is not that bad; although old, it has only done 24k miles. I can't afford to spend the money on a new shock with ride height adjustment which is why these caught my eye.

I agree, they are expensive for what they are, but I would be paying for someone else's R&D regarding sizing etc & would weigh the benefit against the cost rather than the material used.

I have done a liitle searching & people seem quite positive about this mod.

I would very much like to try it & would much prefer to pay less, but time is also my enemy; I live in a madhouse!

If the 30mm is measured at rear axle, I would assume seat will only rise 15/20mm?

Is that what you were after?
