Have any of you guys risked trying to get the rear end hanging out on the road...not sure how to describe it other than rear wheel drifting ala Hayden in the early 990's days but I' do get tempted at times to try break a little traction on known safeish corners. I'm not so sure though if your supposed to set it in motion by giving the rear brake a quick stab or just use the power to spin up the rear a little?

or is it too risky for the road even in small doses and should confined to the track?

Why dont you try a CCM supermoto school day at three sisters, if they are still running that is.

the track is only a few miles from my house..

are you talking about going into or coming out of corners kerm?

going in sideways is on the rear brake. coming out sideways can only really be done with excess throttle, and is a hell of a lot harder to achieve as youre into overcoming the grip of the tyre by combining cornering and acceleration forces in just the right amount to spin it up, but not too quickly as it will spit you off. ive only ever done it twice, both times on track and both times it was totally unintentional. first time was the best feeling ive ever had on a bike, even though i decided to pit after that lap in case it did it again as i felt sure i would probably crash if i knew it was going to happen, the second time nearly saw me on my arse out of coppice.

personally i would leave it well alone.

Thanks for the tip but think I'd be best not to practice either now given that the bike sold 2 months ago Laugh
