Hi
Doing a hybrid project to fit NC30 rear end into yam350 valve.
Can anyone tell me the vertical (↕) measurement between the centre of the swinging arm pivot and the centre of the top mounting of the shock.
If I can get this measurement right it should keep the rising rate linkage correct.
Cheers Dieseldog smile

Hi, hope someone can help with this cause i'm out of ideas.

Got a free set of R&G Crash bobbing, lucky me. looked easy to fit, popp out front engine mount bolt and swap for bobin bolt, luvly.

Now the hell begins, got o/s mounting nut off ok, with a bit of advice from Dynamight, got castlated nut off n/s. Now hit a brick wall.

Tried knocking out bolt, no way, mighty siezed.

Now a brain wave, can I wind out engine mount adjuster and free off bolt, so off comes n/s radiator, off comes oil cooler. now I see that adjuster has no flats and appears to be adjusted from the outside of the frame prior to the bolt, which looks like it has flats machined in it to fit into the adjuster, being either fitted, or fully tightened.

The RC51 manual I downloaded from your good site, says to undo ffront engine mount hanger bolt and to destress by putting jack under engine, now this wories me as I can see me breaking something important.

DO YOU REALLY NEED TO DO ALL THIS JUST TO GET AN ENGINE MOUNTING BOLT OUT?

Lots of threads have show pics of frames that have been stripped down so obviously it is doable,

Any help would be much appriciated. as I'd like to actually get a chance to ride this bike as opposed to be foreber working on it.

Unless I'm mistaken, this lot are selling Pirelli Diablo SuperCorsa's for £220, that's £50 less than everybody else.

Just thought I'd post this coz it amused me and it sort of confirmed my some of my suspicions about "new technology"

I've been hanging around in a Japanese performance tuning garage quite a bit over the past few months using the Dyno etc and just generally poking my nose in everwhere. A guy from our club has been doing some serious tuning on his motor and was getting around 500 bhp on race fuel. All this is being done using piggy back ECUs, lap-tops, wideband O2 analysers etc, etc.

Anyway, he wanted to see what he could get on pump fuel and after making all the adjustments to the fuelling using all the IT gear it was rubbish: the AFR went all flakey and the knock count shot up and they were looking at all the data and scratching their heads and mucking about with the ECU fuel tables on the lap-top to try to find out what was wrong.

Then one bright spark (all puns intended) suggested pulling a spark plug out to have a look at it Idea and yes, it was running too lean.

Diagnosis sorted, in seconds, using nothing more technical than the human eye, at zero cost RollEyes

Made me chuckle anyway Grin

Hi all, Got a 1972 Cub C70, with cantelever front shocks, and I cant release the top nut without the body of the shock rotating beneath it. I've taken out the split-pin but the boltsection and nut won't split. Is there a trick?

My local shop is selling these off cheap-ish but after my nasty experiences with BT014's I'm a bit reluctant. Anyone used BT016's?
Any comments?

Cheers smile

Well, no proper rules, but oldbastard mentioned something in a thread which I totally agree with:

if you seek help in here for a bike problem then it'd be appreciated after picking some good brains (& mine Tongue ) please take the time to post back with the resolution once the problem has been rectified so that we can all become wiser together - Kerm

Picked the wheels up this afternoon from NB Powder Coatings in Ponty.

Cracking job, £30.00 per wheel. Well recommended if you're up north.

Why dont we get these now they are computerised? Like we do with tax and insurance.

Anyway, this link is a free reminder service (no spam apparently).

Started me bike up at the end of work today and thought "What the feck is that noise?" I know I adjusted the cam tensioner yesterday and that's where it was coming from.
I adjusted it because the ticking noise was getting louder lately and I knew it was the tensioner. When I put it back in I thought "well that didn't make much difference but it is a bit quieter".
The noise today suddenly then made a ratchet sound and then all the ticking dissappeared. Engine is now sounding like it's brand new. I think I may have to change the tensioner in the end, it seems like it got stuck and then fired forward into position. I thought I was going to start hearing Grind, klunk, rattle tinkle tinkle and then BANG! But all is well.
