Hi

Need some help with this.

Bidding on origional 93 top fairing for blade, but its going through the roof, and needs repair,.

Wot is this :

This fairing is a non original GRP replacement manufactured to a high quality in Europe.

Does that mean its the same stuff, as Honda use.

I know the chinese stuff is different (injection moulded)?

and I know its not fibre glass,

Please keep reply simple as i've had a hard day. Laugh

Ta

GRP means Glass (fiber) Reinforced Plastic. It was much used back in the '80s and '90s by European manufacturers like Moto Guzzi. It's sturdy and easier to repair than ABS. Thumbs Up

It would be hard to notice the difference mate. I've seen some good repair panels made from GRP. If it's sprayed properly it would take a very keen eye to tell the difference.

Blimey, thats pretty steep for a tlc requiring fairing. Or seems so to me. But then my family and I have a habit of repairing absolutely everything Grin My younger brother's TZR125 fairing started out as a repair and then ended up being basically remade in fiberglass lol. But thats just us Grin

Ahh fair enough. Well I don't think you'd be disappointed in the GRP one if it comes to that.

Hi AL, dont think you will see any difference with the GRP other than its sound and vibration deadening qualities arnt as good as ABS, but that shouldnt matter with a fairing upper. how did your original end up so bad?

Hi Steve,

WAs like it when I bought it, knew I'd have to replace and knew it would b big money.

Bloke who sold it to me said it would be an easy repair.

Just nodded and internally thought TWAT.

But, i knew what i was getting myseld into.

not yet mate thats goin to be a project thro the summer. dont want the bike off the road much longer only just got it back on after 9 months. when i get back from camping next week i pick up my forks, then a week or so later the new rear shock. when these lights come thro im goin to mount them on the covers like i said and bracket them in.just been outbided on a damaged fairing on ebay and like yourself cant see the point of paying stupid money for what most people would have binned ten years ago!
best of luck with your quest, and it may not be arthritis, you may have lost a heel Laugh Laugh Laugh
